STATE OF THE ART WINE STORAGE OPENS IN CARLSBAD
-- Company provides premier warehousing of fine wines for
individuals, collectors, restaurants, wineries and wine shops --

Vintage storage, Inc. opened its premium wine storage warehouse in Carlsbad at 2225 Camino Vida Roble Suite 100. The 8,700 square foot facility provides a temperature and humidity controlled environment necessary for the proper storage of fine wines. Vintage Storage (VS) maintains a temperature of 54º - 59º with a humidity setting of 65% to 75% - generally considered to be the optimum storage environment critical to preserving wine. Local wine collectors eagerly anticipating the opening of VS, the only facility of its type in the area, pre-booked lockers and charter memberships in order to secure a safe haven for their wine.

Owners Art and Trece Kinberg, in partnership with Dick and Eleanor Laing, themselves collectors of fine wines for over 20 years, have always shared a vision to provide Southern California wine collectors, restaurants, wineries and wine shops with premium wine storage. They sought to fulfill a particular need by providing a state-of-the-art facility catering to the growing interest in collecting and enjoying properly aged fine wines.

"We have thoroughly researched the criteria involved in creating the perfect cellar conditions for wine to properly age in the bottle," states VS owner Art Kinberg. "After meeting with various consultants throughout the process, we've created the ideal facility for temperature, humidity, air flow, light and insulation."

Establishing and maintaining those conditions were important to Vintage Storage. Temperature fluctuation can be fatal to fine wines; high temperatures can cause wine bottle corks to move up the neck of the bottle creating more space for air between the cork and the wine itself. As the temperature drops, the cork stays where it was - accelerating the oxidation process. Humidity affects the cork as well. Not enough humidity and the cork might dry out and crack, thus allowing even more air into the bottle. Too much moisture causes mold and mildew to build up, damaging not only the cork but the bottle label as well. Therefore, VS has installed a computerized "Smart Controller" within its condensing units that maintains not only proper humidity, but also proper airflow - another important factor in proper storage. Insulation is another key factor. Appropriate insulation applications maintain a constant temperature throughout the year and guard against seasonal fluctuation.

Security at Vintage Storage is priority. Camera monitoring, key card access, motion sensors and a high tech after-hours security system have been installed. And while an earthquake and its effects can never be 100% accurately predicted, Vintage Storage has tried to offset any damage. Management met with City Engineers to discuss possible geotechnical hazards. After reviewing seismic maps and recognizing Southern California faults, VS built a "state-of-the-art" system that accounts for earthquake activity.

Part of the vision for Vintage Storage included a desire to play a major role in the larger network of local collectors and wine enthusiasts by providing an aesthetically pleasing environment emphasizing interior design details and an attractive ambiance. Granite countertops, slate flooring, Italian fountains and pottery all add to the unique feel of Vintage Storage. It is far more than just a warehouse.

In the warehouse proper, wine enthusiasts can select an upper, middle or lower locker; they can choose to store their wine on Cabernet Way, Chianti Court, Merlot Blvd. and so forth. Naming the aisles after wines is a fun added touch, but it also has management benefits as well. Signs cut in the shape of a wine bottle (on its side, of course!) have been affixed to the top corner locker at the beginning of each aisle. Finding one's locker at 203 Cabernet Way will be a cinch.

Vintage Storage offers six storage options: 24 and 36 case lockers on three different levels, upper level 84 cases lockers for long term storage, 8'x3 ½’ mini' walk-ins, which can hold approx. 100 cases of wine, 8'x7' walk-ins, which can hold approx. 200 cases of wine, and a community locker with up to 6 cases permitted. The upper level storage is particularly suited for long term storage of wine left to mature under ideal conditions. Vintage Club Membership includes many service-oriented advantages including no handling fees for receiving and holding wine sent directly from wineries.

Storing wines at Vintage Storage also makes good business sense for restaurants and wine shops. With more storage area, they can increase their order sizes and take advantage of volume discounts. And they can rest assured that their investment is safe, secure and maturing nicely.
